What is SCFD?
The Scientific and Cultural Facilities District (SCFD) is a small sales tax (0.1%) collected and distributed to the counties of Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Broomfield, Denver, Douglas, and Jefferson, with the EXCEPTION of Castle Rock and Larkspur in Douglas County.

Just one penny on every $10 in sales and use tax spent in the district creates vibrancy for all of us. It provides our kids with a unique perspective and understanding of the world. It inspires all of us to discover the radical and the beautiful and stretches our capacity to be transformed.
Read more about the 30+ year history of SCFD and residents voting to approve this program and voting to renew it in elections three times since. In 2022, the SCFD distributed more than $83 million to nearly 300 organizations.

How the SCFD Operates
