Castle Rock Citizens for SCFD
Castle Rock Tax Implications of SCFD Inclusion
SCFD would add 0.1% tax increase to sales tax ONLY. That means 1 penny for every $10.
For less than the cost of one Denver Zoo ticket ($15.75):
Each resident, child, and business would have access to the SCFD programs
Local nonprofits would have access to Tier III SCFD funding
Local organizations (nonprofit and for-profit) would have access to SCFD-funded programming for all three Tiers.
Cost to Castle Rock residents:
Castle Rock taxable retail sales was projected to be $1.88B for 2023, which generates $75,200,000 in sales tax revenue for the town.
$1,880,000 additional revenue would be paid into the SCFD. Using a Castle Rock population of 84,000 residents, that equals $22.38 per resident on average in increased sales tax paid by residents at the MOST.
**** In reality, each resident’s would pay as little as $6.71 ****
Many of the largest sales tax revenue generators for Castle Rock are primarily paid by NON-residents:
The Outlets attribute approximately 90% of sales to non-residents.
Local grocery stores attribute approximately 60% of sales to non-residents.
If applying 70% across all Sales Tax Revenue (conservative average of sales tax revenue generated by nonresidents), Castle Rock residents could pay as little as $6.71 in additional taxes a year for all the benefits of SCFD.
You are Already Paying SCFD without Benefits
Castle Rock citizens are already paying this SCFD tax but not receiving SCFD Benefits if they shop anywhere on the front range other than Castle Rock,
For example: Costco, Park Meadows, Trader Joes, Aspen Grove, Cherry Creek Shopping Center, Best Buy
Non-residents are already paying into SCFD funds, and Castle Rock isn’t receiving the benefits.
Additionally, anyone annexed into the town of Castle Rock since 1994 are paying SCFD tax, as annexed property could not be removed.
